WHEN MERRY COMES HOME FOR CHRISTMAS

Minimize

Written by Andrea Campfield and Jennifer Burke

The play is a light hearted, family friendly comedy about a theatre student named Merry Fletcher who returns home from college to spend the holidays with her family. Upon arrival, she learns that her childhood school is no longer doing the same Christmas play they have done for the past seven years. The principal of the school has decided at the last minute to change things up, and he hires Merry to write and direct the new show.

Merry has three major problems: first, the lead roles have all gone to the athletes at the school even though they don't know anything about theatre; second, Merry has to include ALL of the principal's crazy ideas: a giant Festivus pole, dancing dradles, and a character named Captain Recycle, to name a few; and finally, Merry HATES the holidays.

In the end, however, Merry learns an important lesson about finding your own voice while respecting and loving the voices of others, and she--with the help of her family, students, and teachers--puts together a beautiful and poingant holiday program.

ALL I REALLY NEED TO KNOW I LEARNED IN KINDERGARTEN

Based on the books by Robert Fulghum, Adapted by Ernest Zulia. Music and Lyric by David Caldwell

March 31 thru April 3, 2011 Curtain 8pm, Sunday matinee 2pm

This musical takes a funny, insightful, heartwarming look at what is profound in everyday life. The actors share stories that feature colorful characters such as: a shy little boy who only wants to play the "pig" in his class production and steals the show; a man whose dream of flying carries him into the air in a lawn affixed with weather balloons; and a "mother of the bride" who's planned a perfect wedding—until fate intervenes. These stories celebrate our very existence, from the whimsy of childhood to the wisdom of old age.
